In order to share a behind-the-scenes journey to see the child protection system through the eyes of an abused or neglected child, the Child Protection Coalition collaborates with our member agencies to offer a bus tour several times a year specifically for employees of our partner agencies and community leaders – the Journey to Safety.
The Journey introduces travelers to the world of investigations, shelters, foster homes, treatment services and the courts. Through stories told by child welfare professionals and site visits, participants learn what it’s like to be a child in state custody. This close-up experience increases understanding and inspires community advocacy to improve the lives of abused and neglected children.
The 2019 Journey to Safety Tour will include:
- Child Abuse Network
- Department of Human Services
- Youth Services of Tulsa
- Lunch and Panel Presentation
- Parent Child Center of Tulsa
- Family & Children’s Services
- Domestic Violence Intervention Services with Tulsa Police Department
